This castle high on a hill in the mist was like a fairytale |
We then had a fabulous afternoon on a tour of the Werfen ice caves, the largest ice caves in the world. This time there were just eight in the minibus, led by a slighty
mad Austrian Richard who seemed to take a particular liking to me. He certainly provided some entertainment during the
drive and hopefully we've managed to teach him that the literal translation "ski-driving" is is not necesary when one
wants to speak of skiing in English!

Inside the ice caves |
The ice caves were incredible and it didn't even seem as though we walked up 700 steps, rose 200m to about
1770m and entered over 1km into the cave (which extend a further 41km into the mountainside). The ice formations and
"rivers" inside were incredible.

We had an hour or so to kill before our late flight home so we went back to the Augustine Brau with Richard
for a large stein in a huge beer hall and found real hotdogs for dinner. As usual, it was a fabulous weekend away!

Me, Justine and Sarah, somewhat out of focus after too many steins, perhaps?! |
