Poseidon, God of the Sea |
After the universeum we sought out the large bronze statue of Poseidon, God of the Sea, that we had seen from
the bus. According to Megan, his appendage used to be bigger but it offended the locals... Later that night
we wandered in the cold and found a busy italian restaurant for dinner. Here we discovered that it is true that alcohol is
very expensive in Sweden, although we didn't find other things expensive - compared to London, of course. We gorged
ourselves silly on the hugest pizzas I have ever seen and had a great night.

... and after. Well, as far as we got anyway! |
But then ... we discovered the COAT TAX - even though
we bought drinks at the bar and ate at the restaurant, on leaving the restaurant we discovered we had to pay for having had
our coats hung up. Of course were used to doing that in clubs but not in a restaurant! After discovering the coat tax was
prevalent in all the main street establishments, we queued at a club only to be denied entry because we didn't have ID! We
decided to enjoy the fact we looked 17 and went back to the ship for vodka and girl talk.

Roofs of Goteburg city |

Me and Jen |
After a late night, three of us missed breakfast as we rolled out of bed in the late morning and said goodbye to our cabins.
Today we hunted out the old prison with the gold crown on top and got some great views of the city. But then, we were
off in search of the main objective of the day - find a moose! We had heard a tip off that there might be moose at the park,
so there we headed. Once again we found ourselves looking at various animals until, eventually, our hunt came to an end and
we found: a MOOSE! Yay!

|
This moose tried to hide behind a pole - silly animal! |

|
The girl moose was much more obliging |

Can you see Laura? |
Heading back into town we decided to stop for an early dinner at a swedish restaurant which was very nice. At about 6:30pm
as we left, we were excited to find it was snowing! We hadn't seen any of the white stuff yet. But, silly us, we should have
known to keep it cool. Strangely enough, RyanAir is not able to deal with snow - even in Sweden - and our flight
was delayed by THREE HOURS! I was not a happy girl, especially as we arrived at Stansted after the last train and so had to
catch a bus, getting home at 2am. It was a disappointing end to a great weekend.
