A hairy coo in the sunshine |
We saw
more hairy coos this morning! After a “photo photo” stop, we headed
to Plockton where there were more “photo photo”s taken of the gorgeous mirror-still loch. The sun was shining for the first time really today, which made the loch, and later Loch Carron, look even
more beautiful.

View down a Scottish glen |
We had a picnic lunch on a beach near Gairloch and a rather
competitive game of football was played before a rather humourous game of frisbee. Next
stop was Corrieshalloch Gorge where I got the fright of my life when a low-flying jet thundered above us and then I wasn’t
even allowed to relieve myself afterwards!

Megan and Carbisdale Castle - can you see it? |
We stopped
in Ullapool for a while and we practiced skimming stones. In all it was a relaxing
day, which was good given the night we had coming up! We stopped for the night
in a real haunted castle. Once built for a fussy duchess, Carbisdale Castle was actually donated to the YHA to promote peace amongst people. The castle was
fabulous – full of art and statues, including a priceless painting and a statue linked to a secret passageway… The cooks in the group cooked for the rest of us (thanks guys!) and soon we were telling
ghost stories in the dining room. It wasn’t long before I entertained/scared-shitless
the team by screaming at the top of my lungs and jumping two feet out of my chair. Ah
yes, some things never change!
