Just back from Croatia five days earlier, I took my exhausted self up to Manchester for a fabulous
chilled-out weekend with friends Kat and Andy. As usual they looked after me awfully well. Aftre celebrating my
new job with a bottle of bubbly on Friday night, I rudely slept in on Saturday morning, then Kat and I had a great girly
afternoon shopping. After buying rather a lot of jewellery at a fabulous craft market, we headed to the high street.
Manchester is so good for shopping! Far fewer crowds and queues than London.

On Sunday they took me for a typical day at the seaside - English style. It was pissing down
with rain and blowing a gale, but we braved it and headed to Blackpool, the kitschest seaside town you'll ever see.
We did all the things I'm told you're meant to do - ate fish and chips, bought icecreams and "rock" (sugar candy) and walked
on the beach (despite the weather). The highlight was Pleasure Beach where we rode the rollercoasters! How fun
was that!?
