Me and Justine |
Justine is heading home to NZ at the end of January, so to see her
one last time on this side of the world, I booked myself an easyJet flight up to Glasgow for the first weekend of 2004.
This time I got to meet Kieran, Justine's flatmate and boyfriend.
He didn't come out with us on Friday night though - perhaps he knows how much trouble we get ourselves into when we're out
on the town together!

We had a fun night out; first starting at an upmarket bar, but soon
giving up on that and going where we knew we'd find a good time - The Walkabout!
Saturday we weren't feeling 100% so after a lie in and brunch in
a nearby pub, we looked around Glasgow's shops for a while before going to the cinema to see a local film - The Lord of Rings!
There was not as much NZ scenery in it as I'd hoped but it was great to watch anyway. By the time we got out of the
cinema it was time for dinner at one of the UK's best curry restaurants.

Our plan for Sunday was to visit Edinburgh. It was only a
£6, one hour bus ride away. I loved Edinburgh - I'd had no idea what an awe-some city it was. The castle high
up on the craggy hill is quite remarkable. We did a bus ride which was interesting and made sure we saw the city's highlights.
After lunch we walked back to the castle and down the Royal Mile.
I was keen to see where my parents had lived for a year about 30
years ago and we walked a short way out of town to Dalkeith Road. Unfortunately it turned out that it was Dalkeith STREET
that they lived in, so half a roll of film was kind of wasted there!
